Mono in the Snow

We had intended to celebrate the long weekend in Mono County, photographing the Bodie State Historical Park in the snow. The first lesson, although the park’s winter hours are clearly posted on the web site, the road leading into the park is securely covered in snow, thus prohibiting the intrepid bay area photographers access. Nevertheless, the weekend provided ample opportunities to test the limits of our camera’s weather resistance as I:

  • Waved my camera over the truck’s cab while snow pelted its lense.
  • A late night, long-exposure pic of June Lake Village under snow-capped mountains.
  • Sunrise over Mono Lake.
  • Mountains and motion blur out the window of our speeding pick-up as we raced to stay ahead of a Sunday afternoon storm.

And much, much more.

Not the Photo Safari we hoped for, but the photo safari we made of it.
