Happy Bagel Sunday Everyone!!!!!

Let us all take a moment, between the cream cheese and sesame seeds to remember this most sacred day.

When long ago Moses arose before sunrise to make a run to the local bakery. He returned to the children of Israel, with a box of assorted, two tubs of cream cheese and salmon that was cured in the smoke of mesquite wood (now called Lox).

He said unto the people “Lo... I have brought to you bread made from yeasted wheat dough that has been shaped by hand into rings. I have sourdough, poppy seed, sesame seed, onion, and wheat, but I have no rye, for the baker was out, but he threw in two multi-grains to make up for it”. And the people rejoiced at the obvious bargain they were given.

They cut open the chewy rings of bread, and mixed the cream cheese with onion, chive, and dried tomato and called it “Schmear”. Though the coffee was already made, some thought a cup of tea would be nice.

Some consumed their bagel with schmear, others with a combination of plain cream cheese and lox; some went to the frig and shared the last of the blueberry jelly, and some simply enjoyed them plain. Many went off to read the Sunday New York Times, others preferred the Mercury News because it still has a decent comics section. Though all shunned the San Francisco Chronicle, which used to be a decent newspaper, let's face it, without Herb Caen...

Others joined together to watch Meet the Press and muttered that David Gregory is wasting time talking with that putz Chris Christie!!!! One idiot chose simply to make a frivolous post to FaceBook. Yet all were together in their celebration that they did not have to work on a Sunday.

So on this rare and beautiful morning, as you sink your teeth into rings of fresh baked chewy goodness, rejoice that you DON'T have to blaze out the door to open the store, to take that conference call, to update the report or cover another's vacation day.

Happy Bagel Sunday Everyone!!!!!
